This is Cord Jefferson’s hilarious and witty debut, which stars Jeffrey Wright as Monk. He is a frustrated novelist, who decides to write an outlandish ‘Black’ book that lampoons modern culture’s obsession with black stereotypes. When the book becomes a runaway success, Monk finds himself having to go along with the charade, including creating a persona of ex-con writer ‘Stagg R Leigh’, which only further enamours him to the white publishing bosses!
