A guaranteed Crowd pleaser with a belter of a soundtrack. Australia 1968, and down on his luck talent scout Dave (O’Dowd) discovers four Australian aboriginal girls singing in his local backwater bar. Convinced they are the next big thing, Dave transforms them into upbeat soul outfit ‘The Sapphires’ and flies them out for their first gig-entertaining the troops in Vietnam. Funny, touching and with great performances – particularly O’Dowd who cements himself as a new kind of leading man.
