2016 ( UK ) ( Biography, Comedy, Drama )
DIRECTOR: Roger Spottiswoode
STARRING: Luke Treadaway, Bob the Cat, Ruta Gedmintas
Based on the international best selling book. This film tells the true feel-good story of how James Bowen (Luke Treadaway), a busker and recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he is adopted by a very focused ginger tom (Bob). It turns out that cats on shoelaces are busking gold. They’re also good at charming women. It is the start of a beautiful friendship in which Bob becomes the loyal friend that gives James the strength to reclaim his life.
You’ll need a heart of stone (or an extreme allergy to cats) not to be moved by the combination of Ken Loach-like realism, Dickensian sentimentality and all those scenes of the big-eyed tabby meowing in the rain or making eyes at the conductor on the number 38 bus. James Bowen’s story is an irresistible heart-warmer.
