Set in a small Sicilian town, the film centres on the friendship between a young boy, Salvatore, and an aging projectionist, Alfredo, who works at the titular movie theatre. Salvatore, now a famous film director, returns to his hometown for the funeral of Alfredo and reminisces about his life as a young boy and falling in love with cinema.
The film has an amazing score by Ennio Morricone and has been cited as one of the greatest films of all time and a world cinema classic.
