Set in a boarding school for troubled boys in the beautiful Auvergne area in central France in 1949, The Chorus tells the story of a kindly teacher who slowly but very surely wins over his urchin pupils through the joy of music despite innumerable obstacles put in his path. Even though all the notes are predictable, the film hits them with wit, warmth and gusto.
