“Lollipop,” a film debut by Daisy May-Hudson, offers a poignant look at the struggles of a formerly incarcerated woman, Molly, played by Posy Sterling.

Set in East London, the film tackles the challenges Molly faces in reuniting with her children while navigating the rigid social system without permanent housing. Sterling’s powerful performance is central to the film, capturing the raw emotional turmoil and systemic frustrations.

Blending fiction with documentary elements, the film draws from May-Hudson’s personal experiences with homelessness.

“Lollipop” highlights flawed bureaucratic processes, offering both authenticity and hope through compelling performances and its focus on societal reintegration challenges.

There is a strong local interest to see this film as Posy Sterling grew up in Market Harborough and she will be giving a Q&A session after the showing which will be led by Gemma Barder, the editor of MaHa Magazine.
