All My Sons is a powerful revival of Arthur Miller’s 1946 drama. The production runs without an interval, which heightens the intensity of the story set in post-war America. The staging is minimalist, designed by Jan Versweyveld, featuring little scenery beyond a fallen apple tree and symbolic lighting. Despite some unusual directorial choices, the performances are outstanding. Bryan Cranston delivers a deeply emotional portrayal of Joe Keller, a factory owner whose past decision to supply defective war parts begins to destroy his family. Powerful performances from Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Paapa Essiedu support him. As Keller’s guilt emerges, the family’s version of the American dream collapses in a gripping critique of capitalism and moral responsibility. The acting is extraordinary, especially Bryan Cranston’s emotionally raw performance, which brings Miller’s timeless themes of guilt, family loyalty, and responsibility vividly to life.
Running time: 2h 15m. There is no interval
