After the son of engineer Bill Markham (Powers Boothe) is abducted by an aboriginal tribe on the edge of the rain forest. Bill Markham spends the next 10 years searching for him. Based on a true story and nominated for 3 BAFTA awards there is no denying the film’s conviction and intelligence. On another level, it’s also a rattling good adventure yarn, scintillatingly shot by the venerable Philippe Rousselot and acted with conviction by Boothe and a cast of indigenous Indians, whose subtitled dialect furthers the film’s authenticity.
