The story unfolds in 1946 as London bounces back to life after the devastation of the war years. Author Juliet Ashton’s (Lily James) latest book is flying off the shelves. Then she receives a letter from Guernsey pig farmer Tom (Michiel Huisman) asking for her help in tracking down a book She heads to the island to learn about the wartime gatherings of The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society, a book group who met in defiance of their Nazi occupiers. However something doesn’t quite add up. Members of the book group are clearly hiding something. What happened to book club founder Elizabeth (Jessica Brown Findlay)? What guilty secrets lie hidden beneath the friendly manner and evasive smiles of the other book club members?
