The amazing monochrome images created by 71-year-old Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado are the subject of this deeply considered Oscar nominated documentary, co-directed by Wim Wenders and the photographer’s son, Juliano Ribeiro Salgado.

For the last 40 years, Sebastião has been travelling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. He has witnessed some of the major events of our recent history; international conflicts, starvation and exodus. He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project which is a tribute to the planet’s beauty. Some of his depictions of human suffering are not for the faint-hearted but, like this fine film, demand to be seen. Unmissable.
