A member’s choice film. Thomas Crown (Steve McQueen) is a wealthy and adventurous businessman who savours a good challenge. Crown orchestrates an elaborate New York museum heist to steal a painting by Monet valued at $100 million. The insurers of the artwork send ace insurance investigator Catherine Banning (Faye Dunaway) to assist the police in solving the crime.

From the beginning, Banning suspects Crown is behind the theft. A game of cat-and-mouse ensues that gives Crown exactly what he was seeking, as his psychiatrist puts it: “A worthy adversary.”

Steve McQueen settles into the role with ease and aplomb, in a film that whisks viewers to an exotic world with style and sex appeal.
